Simpson
Has
A
Lot
To
Prove
--
And
Live
Down
--
On
Her
Latest
Tour
Singer
Ashlee
Simpson
may
never
live
down
her
microphone
malfunction
last
October
on
"Saturday
Night
Live."
The
embarassing
screw-up
had
Jessica
Simpson's
younger
sister
running
off
stage
after
a
production
problem
caught
her
lip-syncing
the
wrong
song
--
and
she
will
always
be
remembered
as
the
one
who
got
caught.
Simpson
was
supposed
to
debut
the
song
"Autobiography,"
from
the
current
album
of
the
same
title,
but
someone
replayed
her
previous
"SNL"
song,
"Pieces
of
Me,"
catching
Simpson
completely
off
guard.
The
19-year-old
singer
drew
withering
attacks
from
media
and
fans.
There's
still
a
"Stop
Ashlee
Simpson"
online
petition
addressed
to
Geffen/DGC
Records
and
JT
Simpson
Entertainment
that
begins,
"We,
the
undersigned,
are
disgusted
with
Ashlee
Simpson's
horrible
singing
and
hereby
ask
her
to
stop.
Stop
recording,
touring,
modeling
and
performing.
We
do
not
wish
to
see
her
again."
It's
sad
in
light
of
Simpson's
admiration
for
such
singers
as
Janis
Joplin,
Stevie
Nicks,
Pat
Benatar
and
Chrissie
Hynde.
But
with
hard
work,
Simpson
may
overcome
the
"SNL"
debacle.
Simpson
is
back
on
the
road
with
her
hard-edged
pop-rock,
performing
Thursday
at
the
Paramount
Theatre,
with
opening
act
The
Click
Five,
a
power-pop
group
of
five
young
men
from
the
Berklee
College
of
Music. |
