Ashlee Simpson Proud Of
CD, Do-Over On "SNL" |
Ashlee Simpson knows what
it's like to be a national
joke, but she's getting the
last laugh.
In October, almost a year to
the day that she had her
infamous "Saturday Night
Live" lip-synching mishap,
Simpson's second album, "I
Am Me" (Geffen), debuted at
No. 1, giving her two No. 1
albums by the age of 21.
"It's pretty amazing," said
Simpson, calling during a
break from her current tour.
"I definitely didn't know
that it would be No. 1. I've
had my share of highs and
lows this year, but I wasn't
nervous about the record. I
was personally proud of the
record."
Like her debut
"Autobiography," Simpson
wrote or co-wrote all the
songs on "I Am Me." However,
the new album shows Simpson
stretching beyond the
pop-rock that made her first
album successful.
For example, "L.O.V.E.,"
which will be Simpson's next
single, sounds more like a
Christina Aguilera dance
number than a Courtney Love
rocker.
"Now that I'm 21, I'm doing
a lot of exploring and I
like all kinds of music,"
Simpson said. "For 'L.O.V.E.,'
I was kind of going for a
European, dancey kind of
feel. And now it's my
favorite song to perform."
Simpson said her tour is a
success because of fan
reaction to her new songs.
"They're already singing
every word with me," she
said. "It's the coolest
feeling in the whole world.
The first time it happened
was with my first single
'Pieces of Me' and my heart
dropped to the floor; it was
so great. It's like they're
going through the same
things I am or having as
much fun as I am."
Simpson agreed that her
biggest show is already
behind her — the
much-awaited return to
"Saturday Night Live."
"I didn't expect my reaction
to be so strong to it," she
said. "But I was so nervous
and I was walking up to do
the song, saying, 'OK, you
can do this. You can do
this.' I didn't expect my
reaction to be so strong, so
'I'm so proud of myself,'
but I was so relieved after
I finished my first song.
There's nothing like facing
your demons."

Simpson Keeps Her New Man
A Mystery |
Ashlee Simpson has
reportedly found love again
with former Jackass
prankster Chris Raab.
Just days after insisting
she's looking for "a normal
boyfriend" after failed
romances with Wilmer
Valderrama and Ryan Cabrera
in a TV interview, the
Boyfriend singer has fallen
for bad boy Raab, according
to American magazine In
Touch.
A source tells the mag that
21-year-old Simpson is
trying to keep the romance a
secret from her
manager/father Joe because
he's also Raab's manager.
The couple have reportedly
been dating for a month and
they were seen kissing and
hugging at Los Angeles' Key
Club in late October.
The source says, "Her dad
would hit the roof if he
found out. He wouldn't want
her getting serious with a
guy when her career is
taking off."
It isn't the first time
Simpson has dated one of her
father's clients - Cabrera
is another one of his
charges.

Ashlee Simpson Rules Out
Celeb Romance |
Ashlee Simpson has vowed
never to date another
celebrity again.
The star made the decision
after her relationship with
singer Ryan Cabrera failed.
"If you fall in love with
somebody, you fall in love
with somebody, but I would
really like to not like a
celebrity," she is quoted by
Teen Hollywood as saying. "I
think it would definitely be
easier. I'm not looking for
an actor, I'm not looking
for a musician!"

Ashlee's Manhunt |
|
ASHLEE Simpson may have
followed sister Jessica's
lead by launching a singing
career, but she's not
interested in mirroring her
romantic life by linking up
with a famous guy.
"If you fall in love with
somebody, you fall in love
with somebody, but I would
really like to not like a
celebrity," she said with a
laugh in a recent interview
with The Associated Press.
Of course, Jessica Simpson
is married to fellow singer
Nick Lachey.
The pair has been under a
microscope since their
reality show Newlyweds made
them A-list stars.
It has recently been
reported that they have
broken up; publicists for
the pair have denied it.
Like her sister, Simpson
also has had a celebrity
romance - though not as high
profile.
She dated fellow singer Ryan
Cabrera, and also like her
sister, had her relationship
chronicled on an MTV reality
show last year.
"It's definitely interesting
when your relationship is in
a magazine and people know
about it and how I had this
reality show and people knew
what was going on in my
relationship," she said.
The pair have since split,
though she is still friends
with Cabrera and calls him a
"great guy."
But an average Joe seems to
have a better shot with
Simpson these days.
"I think it would definitely
be easier. I'm not looking
for an actor, I'm not
looking for a musician!"
Simpson's latest album, I Am
Me, was released last month.

Restaurant Antics of
Ashlee Simpson Caught On
Cellcam |
Bloggers are buzzing over
the latest Ashlee Simpson
video. One thing's for sure
-- there's no doubt she
wasn't lip-synching in the
clip being passed around on
the Internet.
A customer captured the pop
star's late-night visit to a
Bloor Street McDonald's this
week on cellphone video, an
unflattering appearance that
ended with the singer
leaving empty-handed
alongside her bodyguard.
The video shows the singer
climbing repeatedly onto the
counter. In the background,
an employee calls for a
manager.
At a different point, the
same employee orders Ms.
Simpson to get off the
counter and is told: "Bitch,
stop talking to me. I'm
nice!"
Ms. Simpson has been
promoting her new album and
working to eliminate the
memory of being caught
lip-synching on live
television.

Drunken Ashlee Simpson
Tape Broadcast On Canadian
Television |
Taped footage of U.S. singer
Ashlee Simpson behaving
badly at a Toronto
McDonald's has been aired on
CTV's "E Talk Daily."
The tape shows an allegedly
drunken Simpson climbing
atop the counter of the
fast-food restaurant, then
calling the cashier an
expletive when she asked her
to get down, the New York
Post reported Saturday.
The tape also shows the
singer telling a fan to
"kiss my foot" when he asked
to have a picture taken with
her, then refused when he
did not follow her order,
the Post said.
"A girl should be allowed to
buy a burger in peace," a
Simpson rep told the
newspaper.
