Ashlee Simpson To Perform
At DuPage County Fair |
This year's DuPage County
Fair will feature
milk-making, sheep shearing,
woodcarving, carnival rides
— oh, and Ashlee Simpson.
Ellen Sietmann, association
manager for the fair, said
the pop princess will take
the stage at some point
during the fair, set for
July 26 to 30.
Sietmann said Simpson was
booked for the fair more
than a month ago, but the
time and date for her
performance has not been
scheduled. Her performance
will last about 1 hour, 15
minutes.
"We're trying to have
something for everyone in
every age group," Sietmann
said. "We're trying to
educate and entertain (at
the fair). I think she adds
to the great lineup."
Simpson will headline along
with teen sensation Jesse
McCartney, who will perform
July 30, and country
favorite Travis Tritt, who
will perform July 29. Ticket
prices haven't been
established.
About 200,000 people are
expected to attend this
year's fair.

Ashlee, Jessica Ready For
Music Awards |
Jessica Simpson will be
waiting in the wings when
younger sister Ashlee hosts
the MTV Australian Video
Music Awards (AVMA's).
While Wednesday's event will
be Ashlee's first official
hosting gig, Jessica's role
is being kept under wraps.
"She (Jessica) is just going
to be making an appearance,"
said Ashlee of her
25-year-old sister.
"She is going to be back
there, getting my back and
giving me high fives."
The sisters will walk the
red carpet at Sydney
SuperDome on Wednesday
night, with a string of
other international talent
confirmed to attend,
including James Blunt and
Snoop Dogg.
"As far as inspiration for
the show, I am just going to
get out there and have a
good time," said Ashlee,
whose parents and managers
Joe and Tina Simpson are
also in Australia.
"You might see me shake my
booty!"
As well as hosting duties,
Ashlee will perform two
songs, Boyfriend and Love.
"I just usually chill out
and hang out with my band,"
she said of her
pre-performance plans.
"I don't like to ever think
too much about anything. I
just like to go with it."
The Simpsons arrived in the
country separately earlier
this week and have wasted no
time getting out and about
in Sydney, having been
photographed shopping in
Paddington and enjoying a
harbour cruise with their
entourage.
Ashlee followed in Jessica's
showbiz footsteps after
appearing in US series 7th
Heaven. She went on to
release an album and has had
a number of hit songs.
Jessica is best known for
her starring role in the
movie The Dukes of Hazzard,
as well as reality TV show
Newlyweds, in which she and
her now estranged husband,
Nick Lachey, were followed
around by a television crew.
Russell Crowe and his band,
The Ordinary Fear of God,
will lead the Aussie
contingent of artists at the
MTV AVMA's.
Other locals to attend the
event include the Rogue
Traders, The Veronicas,
Casey Donovan, Bernard
Fanning, End of Fashion,
Shannon Noll and Lee
Harding.
Madonna hasn't made the trek
Down Under but is up for the
most awards, with five
nominations for her album
Confessions of a Dance
Floor.
The Veronicas, Bernard
Fanning, Green Day, Kanye
West and Wolfmother are up
for three awards each.
The MTV AVMA's recognise the
best of Australian and
international music in a
variety of viewer-based
categories.
Organisers are expecting the
awards to be viewed by more
than one billion people
throughout the MTV network.

Simpson Sisters 'Not High
Maintenance' |
Celebrity hair stylist Ken
Paves says it will take him
less than 30 minutes to do
Jessica and Ashlee Simpson's
hair for the MTV Australian
Video Music Awards.
And he promises, they will
look "beautiful".
"I know the girls so well
that I am really fast," said
Paves, who has worked with
the Simpson sisters for
eight years.
"Honestly, I can get the
girls hair ready in less
than a half hour and they're
so beautiful, they're not
high maintenance divas."
Ashlee and Jessica are the
big name special guests of
the AVMAs with the younger
sister taking on hosting
duties.
The event will be held at
the Sydney SuperDome on
Wednesday night and Paves
and make-up artist Mary
Phillips have travelled to
Australia with the Simpsons
to make sure they look their
best at the event.
Paves and Phillips other
celebrity clients include
Oprah Winfrey, Eva Longoria,
Jennifer Lopez, Brittany
Murphy, Jessica Alba and
Avril Lavigne.
"These are important
moments," said Paves.
"The fans look forward to
them looking good. It is
part of their job."
Phillips said that while the
girls looked similar, their
styling required a totally
different approach.
"Ashlee is more rock and
likes a harder, smokey eye,"
said Phillips.
"Jessica is the modern day
Brigitte Bardot and Ashlee
is like the modern day
Deborah Harry."
For Ashlee Simpson herself,
she says she likes to mix up
her look.
"I have a hair stylist and a
make-up artist but it is
always kind of the mood that
I am feeling," she said.
"I like to change quite a
bit. I got a great team."
