struggled to film
her latest music
video Invisible
after developing a
case of the giggles.
Simpson took
inspiration from
Hilary Swank's
Oscar-winning
performance in
Million Dollar Baby
to play a female
boxer in the Marc
WEBB-directed promo.
The Pieces Of Me
hitmaker admits she
struggled to keep a
straight face when
she pretended to
box.
She tells MTV, "I
giggle all the time,
and I laugh at
everything, and Marc
told me to be tough
and not laugh in the
ring. That was
difficult."
"I had one day of
training, and right
now (on the second
day of shooting) I'm
one sore b****."

Ashlee Simpson Finds Her
Voice |
O.K., so Ashlee Simpson is
not the first person who
comes to mind when you think
of great live performers.
But skeptics may be
surprised if they catch the
scratchy-voiced singer on
tour this summer. At a
performance in New York last
fall shortly before the
release of her second album,
"I Am Me," Simpson had her
young fans in a screaming
frenzy as she pranced,
strutted and sang — yes,
sang — her way through hits
like "Pieces of Me" and "La
La."
Even Simpson is impressed at
her development.
"I would say that it's a
nine compared to a year
ago," she told The
Associated Press. "You grow
so much in a year."
Simpson, 21, has had to
mature in the spotlight
since she came out of
sister's Jessica shadow in
2004. Her quest to become a
pop star and the making of
her debut album,
"Autobiography," was
chronicled on an MTV reality
series. Then album shot to
the top of the charts and
she became an instant
multiplatinum star.
But along with her
successes, her biggest
stumbles were also put on
public display — including
the infamous lip-synching
fiasco on "Saturday Night
Live."
Simpson has worked hard to
put her missteps behind her
and prove herself a bona
fide artist. She's been on
tour overseas for much of
the year and has been
working constantly with her
band (which also includes
her boyfriend).
Simpson says the group has
become stronger with each
performance.
"Everybody has developed so
much just being on the
road," Simpson said in phone
interview. "Last time it was
my first tour and we had
never gone on tour. Now it's
been something that we've
been doing nonstop and we've
all grown and the music is
better and I think everybody
feels more confident."
Simpson also feels more
confident to express herself
in other ways onstage. For
the first time, she is
putting on what she
describes as a "big
theatrical show," instead of
a bare-bones set.
"(It's) kind of got a cool
bit of a Tim Burton-kind of
feel, but it's kind of got
my personality all added
into it — it will be a bit
of a party."
Though "I Am Me" has yet to
match "Autobiography" in
sales, Simpson says the
album surpassed it in terms
of her development as an
artist — allowing her not
only to show a youthful
exuberance, but to tackle
more serious moods.
"I wanted to start trying
new things, and try
different kind of styles as
well," she said. "This album
I got to do that, and it's
so great to perform that
live because there's
diversity, and I get to
dance around and also
there's another side to me
that has dealt with breakups
and whatnots, and I get to
kind of let that all out."
Not only has she had to deal
with breakups in her own
life, but she's had to live
in the tabloid shadow of her
big sister, as Jessica
endures the bust-up of her
marriage to Nick Lachey.
With both Simpson girls in
the gossip rags, Ashlee
admits there's an added
bonus to touring.
"I get to get out of L.A.,"
she chuckles. "I think
that's another reason I love
to stay out on the road ...
it's nice to not be in L.A.
where the paparazzi are
everywhere you walk."

Summer 2006 Tour |
Ashlee Simpson is embarking
on her second major United
States tour in less than two
years with the official
kick-off of the "I AM ME"
Summer 2006 Tour in Santa
Barbara, CA on June 5, 2006.
The "I AM ME" tour will hit
arenas and amphitheatres in
more than 32 cities across
the United States including
New York, Los Angeles,
Dallas, Boston,
Philadelphia, Orlando,
Denver, Memphis and Houston
over a three month stretch.
The Veronicas and Ashley
Parker Angel will support on

Ashlee Simpson Denies
Nose Job |
Ashlee Simpson continues to
deny reports that she has
had a nose job, despite a
spokesperson for the singer
confirming the surgery.
The 21-year-old apparently
had the operation in late
April in a Los Angeles
clinic, but refuses to
discuss the issue in public.
She said, "Everybody's
already saying it, so I just
don't talk about it. I'm
like, OK, whatever. It
doesn't bother me," reports
Teen Hollywood.

Nose Job |
|
Pop star ASHLEE SIMPSON is
recovering after undergoing
cosmetic surgery on her
nose. The PIECES OF ME
singer, 21, had a
rhinoplasty operation on 21
April (06) in a Los Angeles
clinic, after returning from
Sydney, Australia, where she
hosted the MTV Australian
Video Music Awards (AVMAs).
American magazine Us Weekly
reports Simpson had a bump
removed. Her representative
confirms to the publication,
"Ashlee is as beautiful as
ever. When the swelling goes
down, it's going to look
really cute."

Ashlee Simpson Blames
Ballet For Anorexia |
Ashlee Simpson has blamed
her stint at ballet for her
pre-teen anorexia.
Talking about her
experiences she said that it
was "all about image and
weight", and that it was a
lot of pressure at a very
young and impressionable
age.
The singer has turned her
back on these early worries,
but admits her family were
shocked at how thin she had
become after a period at New
York's School of American
Ballet.
She said: "That was a brief
thing. As soon as my mom saw
me she was like, 'We are
going to eat steak and
French fries!'
"It's all about image and
weight and you're talking
about it all day. But it's
not anything I worry about
anymore."

Ashlee Simpson's New Nose |
Ashlee Simpson has
been looking more
and more like her
big sister Jessica
recently and,
according to Star
magazine, it’s no
coincidence. Star
reports that Ashlee
recently had a nose
job in an attempt to
look more like
Jessica.
Late last month,
Ashlee visited noted
Beverly Hills
plastic surgeon Dr.
Raj Kanodia, where
she received
rhinoplasty surgery.
"Afterward, her
parents helped her
into a waiting SUV,"
a source told the
magazine. Simpson’s
surgery has not been
widely noticed
because it takes
just five days to
recover. The singer
was able to easily
hide out for that
period of time.
Star had a NYC
rhinoplasty
specialist look at
pictures of Ashlee
before and after her
surgery to judge the
results. "Her nose
is thinner and more
feminine," the
expert concluded. In
fact, Ashlee looks
even more like her
sister - something
that has Jessica
fuming.
"Jess was furious
Ashlee was having
her nose altered,"
an insider told
Star. "She said the
last thing she wants
is her little sister
looking just like
her. The older
Ashlee gets, the
more competitive the
sisters have become.
Jess is nervous that
Ashlee's itching to
muscle her way out
of second place [in
the Simpson
family]."

Ashlee Simpson Not
Rushing To Get Married |
Singer Ashlee Simpson says
she wants to wait to get
married — unlike her big
sister Jessica.
The 21-year-old revealed in
an interview with Teen
People in its June/July
edition that she has watched
her newly single sister "go
through a really hard time"
and that tying the knot "is
definitely not on my mind."
While Ashlee Simpson said
she was "absolutely in love"
with her band mate and
boyfriend Braxton Olita, she
added that she's taking it
slow.
"There's a lot of growing
you do in your 20s, and I
definitely want to wait
until my late 20s or 30s or
whenever the time is right,"
she told the magazine.
Simpson's singer-actress
sister Jessica, 25, filed
for divorce in December from
Nick Lachey after three
years of marriage.
Ashlee Simpson does hope to
follow in Jessica's
footsteps in another way —
acting.
"I'd like to do a really
great movie by the time I'm
25," she said, adding that
she was currently reading
scripts and looking at films
with a style like
writer-director Quentin
Tarantino's.
Her summer tour began
Saturday in West Palm Beach,
Fla.
